Why Physical Therapy?

The aim of physical therapy is to swiftly reduce pain, improve mobility, and re-establish integrity of a neuromuscular condition. This can be achieved using manual therapies, exercises, and stretches. In some cases, physical therapy is treatment enough to overcome injuries and certain medical disorders. Other times, you may receive physical therapy in addition to surgery and/or medications.

Physical therapists (PTs) are movement specialists. They have specialized training to identify and treat neuromuscular conditions affecting the entire body. Your physical therapist will also help you learn to treat yourself and prevent future or further injury.

When to Choose PT

Pt for legs and body

In many cases, your doctor may refer you to a PT for augmented or followup care. But you can see a PT anytime you are experiencing symptoms of any of the neuromuscular conditions listed previously. Your PT can evaluate your symptoms and determine an optimal care plan for you.

Also know you can see a PT for performance improvement or injury prevention. Perhaps you’re an avid athlete who wants to improve your training and conditioning. Or perhaps you have an existing condition and want to prevent re-injury. Your PT and personal training specialist can help you develop a customized fitness plan.

Do I Need a Doctor’s Referral?

Colorado is a Direct Access state. This means you can see a physical therapist for first line of care for a new injury. We have the training and experience to evaluate neuromuscular conditions and prescribe treatment. Of course, we work with many medical doctors and surgeons for followup rehab care. Contact your insurance provider for coverage details.

What Does Physical Therapy Cost?

Generally, PT costs less than other invasive medical services. Surgery and medicines can get quite expensive. In many cases, insurance covers the cost of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Contact your provider for coverage details.
